According to Robert Dilts – developer, author, trainer and consultant in the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) – a model of human behavior, learning and communication – since its creation in 1975 by John Grinder and Richard Bandler, defines NLP – Neuro Linguistic Programming as follows:
“NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming, a name that encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language, and programming.”
“The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people, and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create.
“Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay affects our body and behavior (programming).”
“NLP is a way of enriching the choices that you have and perceive as available in the world around you. Excellence comes from having many choices. Wisdom comes from having multiple perspectives.”
In other words:
‘Neuro‘ refers to how you process your thoughts and how you process your experiences using your five senses;
‘Linguistic‘ refers to your choice of words and how you communicate with yourself and others;
‘Programming‘ refers to how your thoughts and words affect your behaviors.
Change your thoughts, change your words, change your behaviors.
NLP Coaching speeds up your process for change.
NLP Coaching processes are a combination of visualizations and simple discussions that allow you to align your inner thoughts and wishes with your behaviors so that you can act congruently going forward with what you want.
I once heard a phrase “The unconscious mind is a genius with an idiot (the conscious mind) on its shoulders “. In other words, the unconscious mind is knowing and powerful at getting what we want, however, our conscious mind often gets in the way in terms of fear, not taking risks, overthinking, etc…
The best way to understand NLP is to experience NLP.
